The Beginning
Hello everyone - this blog is intended to keep the community up-to-date on the grassroots effort to keep the UW Geological Museum open to the public. If we are successful, the museum will be re-named the S. H. Knight Geological Museum in honor of the work and dedication of "Doc" Knight. The museum is is legacy, and we wish to acknowledge this.
Over the next little while we will be doing community education on the importance of keeping the museum open and adequately funded to provide: 1) proper care and feeding of the dinosaurs and other specimens; 2) education of the community on the importance our fossil resources; and 3) ongoing student research at all levels.
We will also be working on raising money to make all this happen. We (and others) will be approaching potential donors great and small in the hopes of raising enough money from many different sources to keep the museum open.
We welcome comments, suggestions, and of course donations! You can donate securely using PayPal on the top left of this page. All money donated here goes to the Friends of the S. H. Knight Geological Museum, and will be used to help in our efforts to preserve the museum.
